To avoid interruptions during your test, make sure your internet connection is as strong and stable as possible. Here's what to check before starting:

 

🔌 Devices that are using WiFi at home:

Before your test, be sure to turn them off or disable Wi-Fi for as many of these as possible.

  • 📺 Smart TVs streaming Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc.
  • 🎮 Gaming consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch)
  • 📱 Phones and tablets streaming video or syncing cloud data
  • 💻 Other computers gaming, streaming content, downloading files, or running updates
  • 📷 Smart cameras and security systems uploading footage to the cloud
  • 🔊 Smart speakers (Alexa, Google Home, etc.)
  • 🌡Smart thermostats, lights, and appliances connected to Wi-Fi

🔄 Activities that can also drain your home internet bandwidth:

Pausing these processes running on your computer, tablet, or other device at home can improve your testing experience.

  • Automatic software updates (Windows, macOS, antivirus)
  • ☁️ Cloud backups or syncs (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox)
  • 🔐 VPNs or proxies that reroute traffic
  • 📞 Video calls or conferencing apps running in the background

🚫 Avoid using:

  • 📶 Mobile hotspots — they are often unstable and can cause test disruptions
💡 Tip: Ask family members to pause streaming or gaming during your test. A quiet, low-traffic internet environment helps Respondus Monitor work smoothly and reduces the likelihood of any technical difficulties!
