Installation of Respondus Lockdown Browser for Windows

Respondus is a free application available to Laredo College students for their home computers. Respondus Lockdown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Canvas.  Respondus Monitor records the student while taking the exam.

Please follow the steps below to install the Lockdown Browser program on a Windows computer.

Step 1. View the video that provides a brief explanation of Lockdown Browser. After viewing the video, click on the “Install Now” button.

Step 2. The installation file will download to your “Downloads” folder. Depending on the internet browser, the file will appear at the bottom left-hand side of the screen. In this case, with Google Chrome, it will appear on the upper right hand. Click on the arrow pointing up and select "Open." If not, access your “Downloads” folder and double-click on the file titled “LockDownBrowser-2-1-2-01”.

Step 3. Windows will then prompt you to allow the program; click Yes.

Step 4. Select “English” from the language list and click “Next”.

Step 5. Accept the license agreement and click “Next”.

Step 6. Click “Finish” to complete the installation.

Step 7. Once installed, double-click the LockDown Browser icon on your desktop to start the application.

Step 8. The PASPort login screen will appear. Use your PASPort username and password to log in.

Step 9. Go to your class inside Canvas.

Step 10. Open Quiz (See example below).

Step 11. To begin the quiz, click the Take the Quiz button. (See example below.)
